Short project description
The service Epidemiology of Infectious Diseases of Sciensano collects pseudonymised personal data in order to monitor the number of diagnoses and follow-up of HIV patients. The registration of the nucleotide sequence is done by the AIDS Reference Laboratories and is necessary for the epidemiological analysis of antiretroviral drug resistance in relation to the characteristics of HIV-positive individuals. The objectives are to improve the understanding of epidemic dynamics to inform tailored health policies & actions. In the context of surveillance of baseline resistance: better understand individuals’ characteristics related to resistance (transmitted ART resistance). In the context of surveillance of other resistance patterns: better understand individuals’ characteristics and care trajectories related to resistance (acquired ART resistance).
