Korte beschrijving van het project

All newborns from HIV positive mothers should be followed for exclusion of HIV infection during the first 18 months of their life. In Belgium, 2 types of tests are performed to monitor the HIV infection among newborns: DNA-PCR and RNA-PCR (VL) tests. Those tests are performed by the AIDS Reference Laboratories (ARL).

A request has been submitted by the service of Epidemiology of Infectious diseases of Sciensano to healthdata.be service concerning the creation of a new data collection definition to collect the data of the HIV-positive and HIV-negative newborns born from HIV positive mothers.
