HD4DP2 Code ListsCode lists are fundamental components in data management systems, used to standardize and categorize data across various applications and databases. They serve as predefined lists that map discrete values to meaningful labels or descriptions, facilitating consistent data entry, retrieval, and analysis.
COUNTRY
COUNTRYThis code list contains all countries as per ISO 3166-1 standard. 2-letter country codes are used as code values, also defined in ISO 3166-1.
HCP
HCPThis “Health Care Provider” code list contains Belgian hospitals (general and psychiatric) and Belgian recognized laboratories, based on their assigned NIHDI identification number.
HPIN
HPINThis “Health Professional Identification Number “ code list contains all active Belgian physicians based on their full NIHDI identification number (containing 11 digits). Also recently inactivated physicians are kept in the list for 6 months. This list is updated on a monthly basis.
MUNICIPALITY
MUNICIPALITYThis code list contains all Belgian main municipalities (« hoofdgemeentes » / « communes principales »). This excludes all sub-municipalities which are listed in the PLACE OF RESIDENCE code list.
PLACE_OF_RESIDENCE
PLACE_OF_RESIDENCEThis code list contains all existing Belgian sub-municipalities with their postcode as code value.
POSTCODE
POSTCODEThis code list contains all existing unique Belgian postcodes.
SITE
SITEThis code list contains all Belgian hospital sites/campuses that exist for hospitals defined in the HCP code list. Hospitals can have one or multiple sites.
WARD
WARDThis code list contains the hospital wards that exist within Belgian hospitals. As provided to healthdata.be by the hospitals themselves. This code list is only updated in case of direct requests through the healthdata.be support center. Documentation on how to file a request can be found on following DOCS page: https://docs.healthdata.be/documentation/national-hand-hygiene-campagne/how-update-your-hcos-internal-organization .
For each hospital ward the code value starts with a 3-digit code which is the NIHDI hospital recognition number (middle part of the hospital NIHDI identification number).
ICD10CM
ICD10CMInternational Classification of Diseases – 10th revision – Clinical Modification. This code list contains all classification codes within ICD-10-CM, aligned with the Belgian ICD-10-CM code list as published by the federal government on https://www.health.belgium.be/nl/gezondheid/organisatie-van-de-gezondheidszorg/ziekenhuizen/registratiesystemen/icd-10-be/publicaties .
HPO
HPOHuman Phenotype Ontology: this code list contains diagnoses of rare diseases.
MICROORGANISM
MICROORGANISMThis code list contains SNOMED CT coded organisms. This list is not exhaustive and can be supplemented as needed, depending on the data collection use. (Internal codes may exist in case of clinical terms which can’t be coded with SNOMED CT).
MORPHOLOGY
MORPHOLOGYThis code list contains SNOMED CT coded morphologic abnormalities (semantic tag “morphologic abnormality”). This list is not exhaustive and can be supplemented as needed, depending on the data collection use. (Internal codes may exist in case of clinical terms which can’t be coded with SNOMED CT).
ORPHA
ORPHAOrphanet rare disease nomenclature: this code list contains ORPHA codes of rare diseases.
HCO_LAB
HCO_LABThis “Health Care Organization Laboratories” code list contains all Belgian recognized laboratories based on their NIHDI identification number (as published by NIHDI).
HCO_LAB_CBE
HCO_LAB_CBEThis “Health Care Organization” code list contains all Belgian recognized laboratories based on their NIHDI identification number and addition of laboratories that cannot be identified through a NIHDI number, but can be identified through a CBE (KBO / BCE) identification number. CBE identification numbers are added upon request, based on the data collection need.
HCO_CBE
HCO_CBEThis “Health Care Organization” code list contains Belgian hospitals (general and psychiatric) based on their assigned NIHDI identification number and addition of health care organisations which don’t have a NIHDI number, but can be identified through a CBE (KBO / BCE) identification number. CBE identification numbers are added upon request, based on the data collection need.

ICDOInternational Classification of Diseases for Oncology: this code list contains ICD-O morphology codes used to classify and code neoplasms (tumors).
